Health, the one all of us seek..
All of us want to be healthy.
At times one may end up to stick on to a diet or change of food to be healthy. One may choose to practice exercise to become healthy. But what it is like to actually become healthy?
Do you know becoming healthy may not be possible by just changing any one activity of our life? It is a process or journey of becoming happy.
Yes, health is a state of being happy, Health is a process of expanding consciousness of the self.
One who is healthy, looks up life more interestingly and happily. As we start becoming healthy, happiness within us invokes and thereby creates a harmonious coordination of body, mind and spirit.
Dr. BM Hedge says, Health – Enthusiasm to work, enthusiasm to be compassion
If one becomes sluggish to work, that’s not healthy. Motivation and enthusiasm to work comes naturally with optimum health.
Let’s understand some basics;
Health can be never be gained by any one change or change in one action. It’s a holistic process of understanding us as a whole. Health can be gained as the 5 layers of us improves.
1) physical body
2) energy body
3) Mind
4) emotion
5) consciousness
So how do we accomplish this?
Basically, becoming or being healthy is a process. The first step towards becoming healthy is this perception shift of understanding it is not just one act which makes us happy or healthy. Next is working on the first layer (physical) promptly as we work simultaneously on the other layers.
We can better understand this now breaking down it simply. We can start off becoming healthy by changing or managing few habits in our life effectively.
1. Food
We are made up of what we eat.
What you eat, what time you eat and how much you eat it all matters. Understanding our body constitution better, is important to choose right food for us.
There is a lot of researches going on about the connection between the food we eat and the emotion which changes or we get over a period. Have you ever checked if your fast/ junk food/ excess spicy food was the reason for your agitated mind the next day? Yes, food matters first of all, have a check on it.
2. Exercise & Daily routine
Allocate a time every day to twist and turn your body gently in the form of exercise. Physical exercise coordinating the breath is vital to ensure body mind alignment. Practices like yoga, qi gong, tai chi works really well for this. The worry, sorrow, anxiety or any such emotions popping out every now and then can become better by good warm ups and stretches which involves joints and core muscle. So, focus, get ready and practise daily.
Daily Routine or the lifestyle we practise plays a tremendous role in measuring how healthy as an individual we are. Our habits, our body posture on all activities, our emotion, how we react to people/ situation, how well we cleanse our internal and external body and how well do we handle our emotions and how thankful we are for all that we have! Everything matters everyday.
At one level, our body intelligence signals that what we are doing is not alright, but we pacify ourselves with excuses because we are following our mind and emotion. That intelligence fails when you become a slave to your mind and creates problems on a physical level. And soon, it becomes a pattern. So breaking the pattern and habit is important.
3. Sleep
Every human on a average needs at-least 7-8 hours sleep. But the quality of the sleep matters more than the time we sleep actually. Switching off the lights early and sleep in dark room earlier and waking up early in the morning can pave a way for a happy life. Just by sleeping and waking up early, you will see a tremendous difference in your health.
4. Holistic wellness
Whenever we get sick, it is nothing but a signal for something bigger. Instead of suppressing it with painkillers, try to identify the real cause holistically. Reaching out for holistic supports like Siddha, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Bach flower, etc becomes essential rather to go for any temporary cure.
5. Right place and right company
Choosing right atmosphere and getting exposed to five nature elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) is important. Make sure your home or workplace is with good natural light and air. Breathe well, watch your breath in a good ventilated space keep you away from fatigue and being dull. Don’t forget to expose to your smiling face and body to sunlight to absorb some vitamin D and more.
Ensure you are with right people. Stay away from people who suck your energy and drain you emotionally or otherwise. Practice some form of art, dance, singing, etc or create a hobby that interests you. Listening to good music, good books, listening high valuable speeches, philosophy, etc can be a great company too for you.
